Wait! You didn't read my text! [She reaches for it, but his arm's longer than hers. She takes it as cue to lean over him and stretch for the phone. It isn't working.]
Give it back! There's an important message on there! [She means the one she just sent that was a whole five words in length...]
I don't need to read your text. [Totally not believing her excuses and instead tossing the phone over his shoulder. Hopefully it won't break, but whatever, James has a bad habit for carelessly throwing things aside (including people).]
[Aww, she was (kind of) having fun with that. She supposes she'll just have to swoop on in for some major snuggle time instead. She curls up against him and somehow manages to look up at him adoringly, genuinely.]
[He's not going to complain about snuggles, man. In fact, he embraces it all rather well, wrapping an arm around her and curling in close with a content little hum.]
As have you, my dear. I really don't know how we've coped.
[Her shoulders lift then loosen as she lets out a happy little sigh.]
I know how sappy it is, but I really do love you. Being with you makes me feel like every awful moment has led me to this -- and you're my reward. [She really hopes he doesn't ruin this moment. Because it's good. It's great.]
Hngh, sap. [But said with a smile and plenty of affection in his tone. For all the bickering and arguments (which he enjoys anyway), moments like this make it all worth while. He's just... not very good at voicing all that.
He shifts slightly against her, a light squirm further under the covers as if curling into the warmth found.]
Don't make me hit you. It's too late to muster up the energy for that. [Yet she has more than enough energy to pull the covers over their head and squeeze impossibly close with an almost obnoxious chuckle.]
If you love me so much, why don't you prove it! [At least she didn't use the age old "why don't you marry me" in this. Clearly, she's cutting him some slack tonight. Not nearly as subtle as she thinks she is, Zatanna inches in for a poor attempt at tickling. (You are never too old to make a fool of yourself in front of the person you love.)]
text; exactly midnight
[She is curled right next to him in bed...]
text;
weirdo
[And then he's rolling over.]
We should celebrate.
textction??
Am not.
And we should.
[She peers up at him only to laugh.]
action!!11
[Snatching for her phone because texting is lame, okay.]
